The Physician Information Exchange (PIE) platform has been in development since 2007 and is part of IAMRA’s ongoing efforts to support and encourage the exchange of information between medical regulatory authorities and also between health care professionals regulatory authorities. IAMRA has developed this resource for members to submit and share information about doctors who make fraudulent applications for registration and doctors who have had action taken against them and who may attempt to practice in another jurisdiction.
PIE is a key focus area in the updated IAMRA Strategic Plan 2024-2026. A key driver is the increased expectation of regulators in the post-pandemic environment from governments and other key stakeholders (e.g.: WHO) to contribute to the international movement of doctors, as well as broader efforts to support a safe and sustainable global health workforce.
The PIE Working Group was re- formed in April 2024 to assist with the delivery of the activities and milestones outlined in the IAMRA Strategic Plan. Its primary focus is to provide expert advice, support, and recommendations to the IAMRA Board on implementation of the Physician Information Exchange (PIE) platform (see full Charter).
Current activities of the Working Group include facilitating a promotions campaign and planning a “re-launch” of the platform at the IAMRA Symposium in Baltimore, MD, on September 20, 2024.
